International Friendship Association News

The most exciting face of IFA now is the Friday International Gathering (FIG)

6-9 PM

that's been going on in our home at 1544 Dunmore Dr; Lancaster, PA 17602 but June 10 to July 12

will be near Bridgeport. To find out location and check what to bring (1st time - yourself, next time

a dish to share or a donation toward the food):

Email me Scott: bronner [at] alumni [dot] cmu [dot] com

or call Scott & Taeko (say Tyco) at Tel: (717) 390-9089

=================================

At Friday Int'l Gathering, we enjoy a time of Food, Fun and Fellowship on Fridays with Friendly

people from around Lancaster County (and even a Chilean from Lebanon County!)  People who have

come so far include Chinese, Japanese Colombian & Filipian immigrants, Thai Migrant Workers,

Bhutanese Nepali refugee immigrants, IU13, MIH & HACC International Students or Staff - Chilean,

Turkish, Congolese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Ethiopian, French, Russian,...

We have some sharing through testimony and cultural moments, but mostly want Christians to befriend

internationals and through friendships share.  In fact, one volunteer already has invited folks to a cafe

where a Christian from their ethnic group shared with them and has invited others to her church! That's

what we hope will happen since these kind of relationships can go deeper.

If you are interested in inviting us to give a five minute presentation or do a Sunday School class open to all adults or even during a weekly event, we are more than open to discuss different ideas.  We love to network as well, so if you know people similarly interested, please put us in touch.  Together we can reach the many internationals loved by Christ who He has brought here.

Note:  We have adopted an option to be an International Friendship Partner (inviting at least once a month out or over) to a refugee individual or family as well as to an international student based on the volunteer's choice. We also encourage churches to consider adopting a refugee family with Church World Services or Lutheran Refugee Services (currently mainly Burmese) because they have fewer church sponsors than refugees coming in, meaning that some refugees come with no church home.  This is such a missed opportunity to help "the least of them" and be blessed in the process.  It is our desire to help build up whatever international mission is going on in this area by working and praying together.  Feel free to join in!
